VEHICLES

	a) Municipal Fire Fighting Vehicle In residential areas, fire brigades have the task of dealing with a complete range of dangerous situations. Large crews (up to 9) and a considerable quantity of equipment are the result.
	b) Industrial and Fire Brigade Vehicles The task of industrial fire brigades is to counteract the specific dangers arising within their companies with equipment tailor-made for this purpose. Automated fire-fighting technology is preferred, in order to minimise personnel costs. It is frequently the case that water is available throughout the plant from a hydrant network and therefore concentrated foam agents and/or powder are often transported.
	c) Airport Fire-Fighting Vehicles International air transport regulations prescribe that the initial response for fire-fighting in the runway area may only take a maximum of two to three minutes. In addition, depending on the size of the airport, the amounts of immediately available extinguishing agents are predetermined. In order to avoid wasting precious seconds,
the run to the crash situation across the airport must not only be as fast, but also as short as possible, whereby small obstacles, fences and hedges will be driven over. Difficult ground must be crossed as fast as the tarmac, which is traversed at over 100 kph.

HELMETS

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Personal protective clothing refers to the garments fire-fighters need to wear while performing on the job. There is a variety of protective clothing available that has been tested to determine different characteristics.

1) Laminated Outer Fabric Design

Rosenbauer has been using this technique for a number of years. In that case the Sympatex® breathable membrane is laminated onto the inner surface of the outer fabric (Rotex®). Benefits: less weight and fast dry.

2) Liner Construction

There is a breathable and waterproof liner added as a separate layer in the fabric. It protects the fire-fighters against moisture and wind from outside.
